Reducing Problem Behavior Through Functional Communication Training”

Presenter: Amy Richardson, B.S.

Some individuals engage in problematic behavior in home, school, and community settings.  You can help turn this around by teaching individuals to better communicate! Functional Communication Training is an evidence-based intervention for problem behavior that focuses on strengthening current communication skills (any level!) in a very specific way.  You will learn how to identify what individuals with problem behavior may be trying to communicate, and how to turn problem behavior into more appropriate ways to communicate wants and needs. This discussion is ideal for parents, teachers, students, and professionals who work with individuals with disabilities and problem behaviors. To reserve your space or get more information, please e-mail autismcenter@uhcl.edu.  (Please RSVP no later than December 9th if you would like the complimentary lunch).

The presentation will be held in Lecture Hall 1100 of the Student Services Building on the UHCL campus from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

University of Houston-Clear Lake is located at 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston, TX 77058.  Follow the signs to the Student Parking Lot.
